Made with grapes grown at Poggio Petroio near Radda in Chianti, Chianti Classico Riserva Castello di Monastero is the result of cellar selection - immediately after the harvest - of the wines made with grapes from the best vineyards. It is made from 85% Sangiovese grapes and 15% Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. After traditional vinification, this Chianti Classico Riserva is refined for 18 months in small oak barrels and then for 12 months in the bottle. The selection of the best grapes, together with vinification and refinement techniques, ensure a wine with an impressive and persistent bouquet, agreeable hints of spices and a very complex and outstanding structure.
